ABOUT
Ashutosh Joshi (b.1997) is an Indian-born photographer, author and a podcast host based in India and the United Kingdom. His long-term photography projects have centered on the political and societal transformations within the Indian subcultures. His work speaks about his intimate relationship with the Indian psyche, which is influenced by his growing up in a rural Indian village. For his most recent project, Ashutosh walked 1850 kms through four different states in India, documenting the journey, creating awareness about the destitute farmer crisis and writing a book about the changing Indian civilisation. Joshi's work (Migrant Indians) talks about the harsh working conditions prevailing among the lower classes in Indian society. In a more personal project "Kundali'', Ashutosh shows a grandfather-grandson relationship through an intimate portrayal of his grandfather, living his daily life while struggling with Parkinson's.
Ashutosh's work has been exhibited in England at the Hardwick Gallery (Cheltenham) and in India in the Tao Art Gallery(Mumbai) and Museum of Goa(Goa). He has been published in the Guardian, NDTV, The Print, HomeGrown, Lokmat and many local and national newspapers. Ashutosh was among the few Indian photographers published in a zine 'For the Land of Rivers', printed by the Photobook cafe (London) which helped raise funds for Covid-relief in India. His prints are held in a private collection in Edinburgh, Scotland. In the rest of his time, he hosts a podcast called "The Late Bird Podcast", where he hosts comedians, scientists, writers and adventurers.
Ashutosh has also hosted podcasts where he has interviewed prominent personalities from various fields, discussing their life and work. His passion for writing drives him to explore new avenues and produce quality content.
